We all understand the importance of Education and innovation in our day-to-day lives and the ways in which they are transforming the world.
I believe that by participating in this Conference, we are in the right place and the right time. Together let us accelerate the exchange of ideas and scaling-up of good practices. I encourage all of you to attend this Conference which will take place on 12th - 13th November, 2024.
Parrallel to that workshops of audiology and speech were created to discuss updates in advance surgeries such as cochlear implants and implantable hearing aids.

Specialist for ENT, Head and Neck Tumor in Bern
Prof. Marco-Domenico Caversaccio is chief physician and the head of the Department of ENT surgery at the Inselspital, Medical Faculty of the University of Bern (Switzerland). Following his studies in human medicine at the University of Geneva (Switzerland) he finished his MD in 1993 on intracerebral hematomas. After various research and clinical fellowships, some at the Klinikum Rechts der Isar in Munich (Germany) and at the Imperial College and the Charing Cross Hospital (both in London, Great Britain) he returned as a senior physician back to the Inselspital in Bern. He became a private lecturer in 2004. Besides his clinical activities, Dr. Caversaccio is participating in various research projects, some of them funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) such as the National Competence Center in Research (NCCR) for Computer-Aided and Image-Guided Medical Interventions (CO-ME). Since 2008 he has been co-directing the Bern Center for Computer-Aided Surgery within the ARTORG Research Center for Biomedical Engineering Research. He is a well-known technology expert for the development and implementation of novel surgical techniques and systems in the area of rhinology and otology. He reviews for a number of scientific publications and conferences in those fields. Prof. Caversaccio is a member of the Swiss, German and French societies for ENT medicine, of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and of the European Rhinological Society.

Dr. Prathamesh Pai, MS, DNB, DORL, MNAMS is a Professor in the Department of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India. He is a teacher for the MCh (Head and Neck Surgical Oncology) a structured three-year training programme recognised by the Medical Council of India.
A versatile surgeon, Dr Pai has a special interest in Laryngeal and Skull Base surgery with a focus on Laser and minimal access. He is a convener of the Multidisciplinary Skull Base Clinic since 2007. He was a member of the Institutional Review Board, at Tata Memorial Centre for several years and is a reviewer for numerous national and international journals. Besides being a co-investigator in numerous basic and clinical studies, currently he is conducting a large randomised clinical trial on the evaluation of oral metronomic chemotherapy in advanced operable oral cancers. With over 60 peer-reviewed publications he has articles on Near-Total Laryngectomy, Transoral Laser Surgery for Early Glottic Cancers, and Endoscopic Sinonasal tumour surgery among his more cited ones. He is the co-editor of a monograph on surgery for the larynx and hypopharynx.
Dr. Pai is an alumnus of the Grant Medical College, Mumbai specialising in Otolaryngology Head Neck Surgery from Seth G S Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. He pursued Fellowship in Head & Neck Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Centre. In 2002 he received the UICC ICRETT Fellowship for training in Endoscopic Approaches to Sinonasal and Skull Base tumours in Klinikum Fulda, Germany. He was awarded the Hargobind Medical Fellowship in 2007 for training in Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Surgery of the Skull Base and Pituitary at the University of Pittsburgh, USA.

Martin John Corsten is an Associate Professor in the Division of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the Dalhousie University. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. His Clinical Interests are Thyroid Cancer, Melanoma, Head and Neck Surgery, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Lin is a 1994 graduate of the Yale University School of Medicine.
After an internship and residency in general surgery at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in 1996, he completed a residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in 1999. From 1999 to 2000, he served as chief resident in the department of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at New York University Medical Center, and in 2002 he completed a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology in the Department of Surgery at Stanford University Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
He joined the School of Medicine faculty as an assistant professor of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery in 2002, and was named professor in 2012.
He is the leader of the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Team for the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and chief of otolaryngology for the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, Dr. Lin has served on the Surgery Performance Improvement Committee and the Medical Staff Operations Committee, and as vice chief of otolaryngology for Detroit Receiving Hospital.
Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, he is a member of the Society of Robotic Surgery, the International Surgical Sleep Society, the American Sleep Association, the Association of VA Surgeons, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Head and Neck Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Alzohaili is a board certified endocrinologist with over 20 years experience. He specializes in Traumatic Brain Injuries, Pituitary Deficiencies, Growth Hormone Deficiency, Adrenal Insufficiency, Diabetes, Thyroid Disorders, hormone Imbalances, and Osteoporosis.
He is a frequent national and international speaker in various countries. He has also written several publications and received numerous awards for teaching.
He is the founder and director of Metro Detroit Endocrinology Center; one of the busiest endocrinology centers with over 35,000 patients in the practice with emphasis on Traumatic Brain Injury and Pituitary Gland Disease.
Dr. Samer Fakhri is a fellowship-trained rhinologist and an internationally recognized sinus surgeon and educator with a leadership record in healthcare institutions and specialty societies nationally and internationally. He has practiced in the Houston area for over 15 years and established the division of sinonasal and skull base surgery at UT Houston. Dr. Fakhri has served as the Chair of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and as Residency Program Director, Vice-Chair, and co-director of Rhinology Fellowship in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas McGovern medical school at Houston. He has trained many residents and fellow surgeons.
Dr. Fakhri received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He completed his residency training at McGill University Health Center and pursued fellowship training in Rhinology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He also completed a research fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Meakins-Christie Laboratories of McGill University. Dr. Fakhri is certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Fakhri is a frequently invited national and international panelist and speaker on the management of complex sinus disease and sinonasal tumors. He has served as chair or director to international CME-accredited Rhinology meetings. He also served as chair of the Rhinology education committee of the American Academy of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Fakhri has published over 60 scientific articles and book chapters, including descriptions of new minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat complex sinus conditions.
